Birth is a ceremony where you look death in the eye, you must not lose sight of that.

In the hospital you can create a ceremonial environment by keeping lights dim, off, you can bring herbal sprays .

(copal, cedar, sweetgrass, yerba santa, sage, lavender, rose water)

You are  important, sacred, you belong, you are doing what nature intended you to do, be nurturing, be mothering.

As doula's, we are with you during your pregnancy and birth ceremony, we are in the presence of your newborn, newly arrived from the spirit world. You are part of that story, hold it sacred, tell the child the story, remind the family how sacred and powerful it was.

“Woman is the first environment. In pregnancy our bodies sustain life. At the breast of women, the generations are nourished. From the bodies of women flows the relationship of those generations both to society and the natural world. In this way the earth is our mother, the old people said in this way we as women are earth.”
